Short editorial note.......... While the main aim of this site is to collect material about the Wilts & Berks Canal, this is only a my guideline. All our canals are linked, and I don't mean just physically but also by the men that built them, maintained them, worked on them, destroyed them and are now restoring them. So it will be no surprise to find names like Aickman, Rolt, Hadfield etc., organisations such as I.W.A., W.R.G. and B.W., and reference to the engineers who followed in Brindley's footsteps turning up.
