Wilts & Berks Canal

Proposed in 1793

Opened 1810 by the Canal Company.

Abandoned 1914 by Act of Parliament.

Re-discovered 1977 By Neil Rumbol.

Restoration now in progress.

These five facts hide a wealth of information about the life and times of the canal and those who worked on it and lived by it, and the villages and towns through which it passed.

This site is designed to be a repository for anything to do with any of the above.
